Welcome to Ethiopian Community in Norway

The Ethiopian Community in Norway ( ECN ) was stabilised by interested Ethiopians in 1987. ECN is a non-profit organisation. In 1998, ECN was registered in "Brønnøysundregistrene" in Norway and got its own organisation number. The goal and rules of our Community can be read in Amharic HERE.


ECN holds a democratic election of its committee every two years. October/November is the moment to elect the committee in the general assembly. The elected committee serves the community for the next two full years. The community arranges several meetings to inform its members about activities and status. ECN is open for all peace loving Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia. Our community will continue with this principle and does not discriminate anyone because of religion or ethnic background.


The present committee was elected 21st October 2006 in the general assembly in Oslo. The committee will serve the community in 2007 and 2008.

The committee will then invest its time, energy and knowledge for free to serve the Ethiopian community specially in Oslo and Omegn area.

In the next two years, the committee will manly work on to inform Ethiopians about Norwegians value. In addition we will introduce Ethiopian rich culture in the Norwegians society and develop harmony among Ethiopians in Norway.


We have planed several practical projects which we believe is useful for Ethiopians in Norway. Please visit the projects info here. At the same time, we would like to thank the «Oslo Kommune, Bydel Grunerløkka, Enhet for mangfold og integrering» that seven out of eight planed projects by our community are allowed. We are eager to fulfil these projects. We have a faith on Ethiopian community in Norway who will participate in these different activities. This way, we will be bigger and reach our common goal.
